Job Description:
This Curator role at Goldsmiths, University of London involves managing and developing specific subject areas and collections within the Special Collections and Archives. The Curator provides research support and teaching to students, faculty, and visiting researchers.
The Curator is responsible for:
- Overseeing collection management, cataloguing, and archival description in collaboration with Library and Archives Cataloguers.
- Resolving enquiries relating to their area of expertise and advising library staff on enquiry resolution.
- Supporting fundraising, development, and advancement activities in collaboration with Goldsmiths Development and Alumni Office.
- Providing specialist research support and participating in the planning and execution of the Special Collections exhibition programme.
- Liaising with Goldsmiths course leaders, academics and others to develop, facilitate and deliver workshops and student projects.
- Engaging with projects across the Library service in a range of areas, including project team leadership.
Qualifications:
The suitable candidate should have a degree or equivalent experience and a professional qualification in museum studies or heritage management. Experience in managing museum collections, designing and delivering teaching, and working with a range of stakeholders is required. Specialist knowledge of collections relevant to the role and knowledge of pedagogical issues in museum collections and archives are also important.
Skills:
The ideal candidate will have excellent multimodal communication skills, high attention to detail in documenting and cataloguing, and the ability to build strong working relationships across a large organization.
