The Library Assistant (Positive Action) position at Goldsmiths, University of London is a key role in enhancing the Library experience for students and staff. The role involves being the first point of contact for enquiries, managing the library spaces, and maintaining the library's opening hours. The assistant will work closely with Library Supervisors, Senior Library Assistants, and specialist staff on tasks such as collection and stock management, data entry, and administration. The role is aimed at individuals from Global Ethnic Majority backgrounds interested in pursuing a career in the Library and Information sector.

Key duties include delivering excellent customer service, training customers to use the library's systems and facilities, managing library space, entering and maintaining accurate records, and participating in a rota to cover a variety of service points. The assistant will also support cross-team processes based on service needs, monitor and process charges incurred by library users, and contribute to student engagement, outreach, and communications activities.

Candidates must have a degree or equivalent experience, a background in customer service, experience in administrative tasks, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. They must also demonstrate knowledge of how an academic library operates, knowledge of varying user needs within a higher education environment, and the ability to navigate digital and information technologies. The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift, carry, stretch, and bend.
