Summary

The Cataloguer role at Goldsmiths, University of London is responsible for all aspects of metadata creation and organization. This includes original cataloguing and classification, quality control, and metadata optimization for library, archives, and gallery catalogues. The Cataloguer is also responsible for training and coaching senior library assistants and library assistants on cataloguing and classification.

The main duties of the role include creating catalogue records, carrying out original cataloguing and classification, and ensuring metadata and records conform to recognized standards. The Cataloguer is also tasked with maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to library engagement and outreach activities, and delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements for the role include a degree or equivalent experience, experience in a library or customer service environment, and knowledge of current and emerging technology relevant to cataloguing and discovery. Candidates should also demonstrate strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in documenting and cataloguing.

This role is based at the university's New Cross, London campus and is not suitable for remote working. The salary ranges from £30,000 to £39,999 per annum.
