Summary

The Assistant Librarian (Collections & Discovery) post at RGU is a full-time, permanent position based in Aberdeen. The role involves cataloguing, classification, and resource management activities to ensure the library’s resource collections are comprehensive, accurate, and accessible. Duties include responsibility for the cataloguing and classification of library stock, managing print and electronic resources, supervising resource management activities, providing training to library staff, and leading cataloguing and resource management projects. The role also requires handling enquiries, undertaking reading list creation, and coordinating digitisation of chapters and articles.

The ideal candidate should be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience, possess practical knowledge of library metadata and cataloguing formats, standards and concepts, have good organizational, communication and IT skills, and experience working in a support service role in higher education or in a library. Knowledge of the UK Higher Education environment and experience in an academic library are desirable.
