Summary

The Collections and Digitisation Assistant at Middlesex University will work with the Collection Team to deliver high-quality library services, including the efficient acquisition, maintenance, and provision of access to library resources. The individual will primarily work within the Acquisitions, Subscriptions, and Digitisation teams, with regular rotations for experience and knowledge sharing.

Principal duties include assisting in acquisitions and subscriptions processes, producing management reports, participating in development projects, and supporting the Library Liaison team. The role also involves managing lending print collections, ensuring electronic resources are maintained and monitored, and coordinating usage data for decision-making.

A significant part of the role is also dedicated to acquisition duties, managing reading lists, and troubleshooting problems. Digitisation duties involve processing requests, providing accessible formats, maintaining records, and checking license terms.

The ideal candidate should have GCSE or equivalent qualifications, experience in using IT applications, experience in a library or customer service role, and a commitment to professional development. Desirable skills include experience in higher education, knowledge of automated purchasing processes, library management systems, and legal compliance issues.

The role requires excellent problem-solving, communication, organisational skills, and a strong commitment to customer service. The candidate should also demonstrate commitment to fairness, equality, and inclusion. The job also offers certain benefits like annual leave, parking permits, and flexible working arrangements. The role's location may change depending on the University's requirements.
