Copyright and Accessibility Officer
The Copyright and Accessibility Officer at Middlesex University is responsible for promoting and maintaining awareness of UK and international copyright issues that affect teaching and learning materials. They play a vital role in the development, coordination, and promotion of copyright compliance within the university, including managing the digitisation service and staff.
The officer is also tasked with creating and maintaining policies and procedures that ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Additionally, they ensure that the library service provides accessible formats of texts and other resources to accommodate students with disabilities.
The officer's duties include writing, implementing, and reviewing policies, conducting research, and monitoring developments in copyright and licensing. They also act as the primary contact for licensing bodies, lead and direct Collection and Digitisation Assistants, and assist with the addition of electronic resources to VLE modules. They maintain copyright records and provide expert advice on copyright legislation.
The officer should have a degree in a relevant field such as law or librarianship and have familiarity with UK copyright legislation and licensing schemes. They should also have experience delivering services at higher education level and have excellent communication, administrative, and IT skills. They should be self-motivated, flexible, and have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
