Library Experience Assistant
The Library Liaison Manager position at Middlesex University is a part of the Library and Digital Education Directorate. The role's main goal is to ensure students have access to relevant academic materials and information literacy training. This involves working with academic staff to develop library collections in digital and print formats, managing the learning materials budget, and providing a variety of workshops and clinics for students. The manager will also lead the Liaison Librarians team strategically and ensure a student-focused approach to service delivery.
Candidates are expected to have a professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Science, extensive experience in team leadership or management, and knowledge of best practices in the sector. The annual salary is between £43,486 - £49,996, and the position is based at the Hendon Campus.
The Library Liaison Manager will also need to develop collaborative relationships with Faculties, contribute to the design of curricula, and ensure the provision of a range of workshops. They will be responsible for managing the learning material budget and ensuring value for money. They will also need to analyze relevant management information on academic liaison, teaching, and collection usage to assess current activities and their impact on student achievement.
Candidates should have an understanding of current issues in higher education and how they may impact library liaison services, knowledge of best practice in the sector relating to Information Literacy delivery, and an understanding of the information needs of different learners. They are expected to have excellent IT skills, particularly with reference to information/digital literacy. The role requires 35.5 hours per week and may involve occasional weekend or evening work.
