Head of Open Research
The Head of Open Research at Goldsmiths, University of London is responsible for leading the development and management of open research practices within the university. This includes driving the adoption of open access publishing and responsible research dissemination. The role involves extensive collaboration with academic schools, the university Research and Knowledge Exchange team, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with open funders’ open access policies, Research Excellence Framework (REF) requirements, and best practices in research metadata management.
The postholder will also manage the Library’s research information systems and journal hosting platforms, promoting a culture of open scholarship. As a member of the Library Management Team, the postholder contributes to strategic planning and represents the Library in internal and external collaborations.
Key duties include managing the Open Research team, contributing to Library strategic planning, leading the development of open research cultures, supporting the collection of research outputs for the university’s REF submission, providing strategic advice on all aspects of open access policy, and managing the Library’s research information systems.
The candidate should have a degree level education or equivalent experience, a professional qualification in librarianship or information science, experience in managing provision of research or publishing support services in a higher education setting, and knowledge of current issues and policies within research and open access publishing.
