Head of Heritage Collections
The Head of Heritage Collections has senior responsibility for the university's heritage collections, including the Special Collections of rare books and archives and the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum. This role involves high-level leadership, innovation, and strategic direction for the entire Library team. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the collections are accessible and maintained for the long-term, and that the education and research goals of the university are central to the service provision. Key duties include strategic development of heritage collections, safeguarding the collections, liaising with academic stakeholders, and developing philanthropic and grant funding opportunities. The role requires a degree or postgraduate qualification in a curatorial discipline, leadership skills, knowledge of best practice in collection care, and experience of curating collections within the heritage collections area. A commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to develop digital approaches to service delivery are also required.
