Director of Library and Learning Services
This job posting is for the position of Director of Library & Learning Services at the University of Southampton, a Russell Group university. The role involves strategic planning, management, and development of the university's libraries, ensuring that they are equipped to meet emerging challenges in information provision and service delivery. The Director will be responsible for a team of approximately 150 people and will report to the Senior Executive Director, Students & Infrastructure.
Key duties include strategic development and stakeholder engagement, strategic leadership, budget management, continuous improvement, and engagement with various internal and external stakeholders to enhance the delivery of education, knowledge exchange, and research. The Director will also act as a project sponsor for physical and digital infrastructure projects related to libraries and learning spaces.
The ideal candidate should have a professional qualification or postgraduate degree in a relevant area, extensive knowledge of UK higher education, experience at a senior level in a research library or similar organization, and a strong grasp of technology's potential in relation to research, learning, and teaching. They should also have a record of championing strategic change and managing large, complex budgets. The salary range for this position is £70,000 to £79,999.
